Stranded blackmailer’s Dubai jet out plea is £11 flop

STRANDED Royal blackmailer Ian Strachan pleaded for cash to get home from Dubai — and raised just £11.

The Scot, 38, has been stuck there for a year in a row over a £100,000 car hire bill.

He tried to raise cash to help pay for his legal fees by appealing for online donations under the name Charlie Goldstein.

But Strachan — jailed in 2008 for trying to extort cash from a male royal in a sex plot — was £9,589 short of his £9,600 target after three months.

An insider said: “He’s been rumbled. Would you give him cash if you knew about his shady past?”

Strachan, from Aberdeen, flew to Dubai last February with his mum and ex-girlfriend Bonnie Rocher.

But when he tried to leave three weeks later he was told he had to settle a repair bill for a hired Audi R8 supercar.

Strachan, who lost a leg after a fall in 2013, said: “I think it is utterly ridiculous you can lock someone out of their own country.”

But Radha Stirling, of charity Detained in Dubai, said: “Three donors have come forward. He expects to be home soon.”
